PRIVACY POLICY

GESTEV hereby informs you about the use we make of the information we collect when you visit our Website (hereafter, the “Site”). Accordingly, this Privacy Policy (hereafter, the “Policy”) defines how we collect, use, disclose and process any information you provide to us when you use the Site.

GESTEV is aware of the issues raised regarding the circulation of personal information and browsing information on the Internet and wishes to work with you to ensure that your privacy is respected and protected. For this reason, we want to explain to you what type of information we collect when you visit the Site and also when, how and why we collect this information. GESTEV would like to point out that we restrict both the quantity and the nature of the information collected. We therefore ask you to read the following lines carefully and refer to them periodically to be aware of any changes that may be made by an update of this page.

PERSONAL INFORMATIONS

  1. What does “Personal Information” mean and how is it collected?

    “Personal Information” is information about an identifiable individual. In other words, information that can be used to identify you as a user of our site, such as your last name, first name, residential address, email address, or your telephone number.

    Rest assured that no personal information is collected on the Site without your consent. In certain very specific circumstances, but always in an honest and lawful manner, either when registering for our various personalization services, emails, when you wish to volunteer or apply for a job, GESTEV requires that you enter your name , first name, address, email address and certain other Personal Information in an on-screen form. Thus, when GESTEV asks you for such information, you are always explicitly and previously informed and you are informed that you are giving us information which will be the subject of a set of operations relating to the collection, recording, use, modification, retention and destruction of such Personal Information. GESTEV will provide you with the appropriate ways to verify that your personal data is accurate and up-to-date. In addition, GESTEV may ask you, via such forms, if you are interested in receiving information about other services, contests or news about GESTEV or its partners. You will always have the choice to decline this request or to stop a subscription to a personalized service that you have previously chosen.

    We may also automatically collect general anonymous information about your use of the Site, such as the date and time of your visit to the Site and the pages of the Site that you view. Our servers may also collect information about the type of browser you use, as well as your computer’s IP address and the name of your Internet service provider. In most cases, that information is not Personal Information, but rather Browsing Data, and we refer you to the “Browsing Data” section below to better understand our policy in that regard.

  2. How is the Personal Information used?

    Collecting Personal Information allows GESTEV to be able to provide you with a service that is more relevant to your needs, to improve the content, the interface and the features of the Site based on the collected information, to apply for a job or volunteer position and to contact you, if you have informed us that you so desired, to send you information occasionally via email. Such data is also used for monitoring purposes and to improve utilization.

  3. Curriculum Vitae

    When you submit your application to us through our Sites, your Personal Information is received directly by our human resources department and is only entrusted to qualified personnel who use it to assess your application and make the required follow-ups with you.

  4. Volunteering

    When you submit your application for volunteering through our Sites, be informed that your Personal Information will be treated according to the specific Privacy Policy.

  5. Is Personal Information shared with third parties?

     

    We do not transfer, sell or disclose your Personal Information in any manner whatsoever to any third party, including our advertisers, other customers or partners, without first obtaining your consent. Notwithstanding the foregoing, your Personal Information may be disclosed: (i) to GESTEV’s subsidiaries and affiliated companies, it being understood that your express consent will be required when you provide such Personal Information, and (ii) to third-party companies hired by GESTEV to store or process such information in the name and on behalf of GESTEV pursuant to contractual agreements which guarantee the confidentiality and safety of the Personal Information. Please note that GESTEV may use the services of providers located outside of Canada. As a result, and even if GESTEV requires that these third parties preserve the confidentiality and security of Personal Information according to the standards provided for by law, it is possible, in rare cases, that the applicable laws in those foreign countries allow Personal Information to the disclosed to judicial, quasi-judicial or governmental authorities.

  6. How is the Personal Information stored and for how long?

    The Personal Information collected by GESTEV is stored on servers that cannot be accessed by the public and is protected with appropriate security measures. Thus, rest assured that security measures are in place to protect your data against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, copying, use or modifications. To protect the confidentiality of your personal information, GESTEV maintains administrative, technical and material protection measures to prevent unauthorized access, use, modification and disclosure of personal information in our custody and control.

    We keep the Personal Information only to the extent it remains necessary or relevant for the purposes mentioned in the Policy or as required by law.

  7. Is our protection of your Personal Information limited?

    Notwithstanding the above, and despite our good will and the measures we put in place, no data transmission on the Site or on Internet generally is completely guaranteed or without risk. Thus, we cannot affirm, warrant or guarantee that your Personal Information will be protected against loss, misuse or modification during transmission, and therefore we cannot accept any liability for any Personal Information transmitted by you that third party could use or misuse it, intercept it during transmission via Internet or as a result of hacking.

     

    In summary, the only situations in which GESTEV may disclose Personal Information, other than those expressly provided for by law, are the following: (a) at the request of a legal authority or in good faith considering that this action is required to comply with any law or regulation in force, (b) to intervene in a lawsuit, for the prevention of fraud, to protect or defend the rights or property of GESTEV or GESTEV users, and (c) to intervene, in extreme circumstances, in order to protect the personal safety of GESTEV users or the public.

  8. Can you access or request rectification of your Personal Information?

    Yes, you can access the Personal Information that concerns you or ask that it be corrected by submitting a request in writing to infovieprivee@quebecormedia.com. We will be able to answer your request only if we have a personalized file about you (which is the case when you have disclosed Personal Information to us or consent to disclose Personal Information to us).

    Our Site may contain links to websites managed by third parties, which are offered only for your enjoyment. You will leave the Site if you activate these links. Be aware that the Site and GESTEV have no control over third party websites and that GESTEV cannot, in any case, be held liable for such links being listed on the Site. Thus, any Personal Information that you provide to other websites will necessarily be subject to the Personal Information Protection Policy of those other websites. GESTEV can never be held responsible for any abuse that may result from this, nor for the way in which the organizations that administer these websites may collect, use, disclose or process your personal information. Therefore, we recommend that you carefully review the privacy policies of these other websites. Also, we wish to bring to your attention the fact that the voluntary distribution of Personal Information, by electronic mail. It is important to remain vigilant when you communicate your Personal Information through those means, and we ask that you read our Terms of use. In these cases, be aware that you are transmitting your information at your own risk and this information may be collected and used by third parties without obtaining any prior consent from you. In short, if you enter Personal Information online and this information is publicly available, you may receive unsolicited messages from third parties. GESTEV assumes no responsibility with regards thereto. We advise you, at all times, to be careful and to pay attention when you’re online, browse the Internet or create content on the Internet, in particular, by adding comments.

BROWSING DATA

  1. What does “Browsing Data” mean and how is it collected?

    Browsing Data is anonymous data about your browsing activity or your device such as, for example, data concerning your IP address, your browsing history (such as the time and length of time you have visited the pages of this site), the contents of such pages, the number of clicks you made, your device type, the site you came from and the site you’re going to when you leave ours, your general geographic location (your country or province), and the advertisements and videos viewed on the site.

    The Browsing Data is anonymous and is not used by us to discover your identity (by matching or otherwise). It is only used for the purposes described below.

    The Browsing Data is collected by using cookies, which are small data files that are stored on the hard drive of your electronic devices (such as your computer, tablet or mobile device) when you browse this site, as well as pixel tags which are very small graphic elements. These cookies and pixel tags are automatically sent by this site’s server to your device’s browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla, etc.) and are archived, by default, on its hard drive. Cookies and pixel tags may also be sent by our Partners (including Google, Doubleclick, and Facebook).

  2. Who collects the Browsing Data?

    The Browsing Data is or may be collected, in whole or in part, by (i) us, namely GESTEV, Quebecor Media inc., its subsidiaries and affiliated companies (hereafter, “us”) and (ii) certain companies with whom we collaborate for commercial or non-commercial purposes (such as our advertising partners, content partners, companies that may acquire some of our assets, or technological service, solution and platform providers connected to this site (“Partners”).

    In addition to GESTEV, Quebecor Media Inc., Partners may collect Browsing Data and may establish or analyze your use of our Sites in order to improve their quality. In this case, only aggregated activity or historical data is used. This collection includes domain name, IP address, type of browser and system you use, browser language, geographic location, query, interests and preferences. The data we and our Partners may collect is “non-sensitive” and depersonalized. Our Partners are also required by law to adhere to the recognized principles that apply to the protection of personal information and to comply with their own privacy policies.   3. Is Browsing Data shared with third parties?

    Without your consent, we will not communicate Browsing Data to third party other than our Partners and certain companies affiliated or linked to Quebecor Media Inc., always in the manner described in question 2 and for the same purposes as those described in question 4. In addition, in such a case, we will then take all available measures so that they use the Browsing Information according to our instructions and in compliance with this policy, the laws and any other appropriate security and confidentiality measures.

  4. How is the Browsing Data used?

    That information is collected to allow us :

    (a) to generate statistical data regarding visits to the Site, the pages consulted, the performance and use of our sites and their content and the type of person for whom they stir interest;

    (b) to improve your browsing experience. For example, the data on your browser (namely, the language, time zone and plug-in features) will be offered to you by default during your subsequent visits on this site so that you do not need to readjust your specific settings.

  5. How is Browsing Data stored and for how long?

    Browsing Information may be stored on our servers, the servers of our service providers or, where applicable, on the servers of our Partners. It is kept only for the time required to fulfill the purposes described above, after which this information is erased.

  6. How can you prevent your Browsing Data from being collected?

    Except for express action on your part, browsing this site means that you consent to the collection of Browsing Information in the manner and for the purposes indicated above. You may, at any time, from your browser, simply delete the cookies stored on your computer or deactivate completely the feature which stores or archives cookies on that site.   7. What happens when you click on an ad or link displayed on this site?

    When you click on an advertisement or a link displayed on our site, you will be redirected to the site of the advertiser or a third party and you will leave this site. The advertiser’s or third party’s site has its own Browsing Data policy which may be different from ours, and likely its own cookies. Once you leave our site, our Browsing Data policy no longer applies and you will be governed by the policies of the new site you are visiting.

  8. Can you access your Browsing Data or request its rectification?

    Yes, you can access the PI that concerns you or ask that it be corrected by submitting a request in writing to infovieprivee@quebecormedia.com. We will be able to answer your request only if we have a personalized file about you (which is the case when you have disclosed Personal Information to us or consent to disclose Personal Information to us) and that we can associate you specifically to Browsing Data about you.
