Registration officially opens Monday, November 20 for runners and walkers from near and far to sign up for any of the five running events on the 2018 Je Cours Qc race calendar. Big news for 2018: the SSQ Quebec City Marathon is moving to the weekend of October 12\u201314 to wrap up the season in style. There\u2019s no change to the traditional season-opener, though, as the Oasis L\u00e9vis Half-Marathon kicks things off on May 6. Next up is the Duchesnay Coureur des Bois Trail on May 21, followed by the Quebec City Descente Royale presented by Les Promenades Beauport on June 3 and the Quebec City Staircase Challenge on June 17. \u201cAfter weeks of discussions with various tourism and sporting partners and the City Council, we\u2019ve found the perfect weekend for the SSQ Quebec City Marathon,\u201d said Chantal Lachance, Vice-President of Marketing and Operations for Gestev, event producer for Quebec Running Events Corporation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And that\u2019s not all\u2014some exciting changes are in store for the other four events in the Je Cours Qc series too. \u201cHere at Je Cours Qc, we spent a lot of time talking to runners during our first year at the helm, because we wanted to find out what makes them keep lacing up their running shoes and get a sense of what they like to see at events like these,\u201d said Chantal Lachance. \u201cWe want to keep making the experience at our events better and better for participants and supporters, so we\u2019ve given our T-shirts and medals a little more love, we\u2019ve added two new distances for the Quebec City Staircase Challenge and we\u2019ve introduced a medal ceremony for participants age 65 and over\u2014and that\u2019s just for starters!\u201d<\/p>\n

Registration<\/strong>
\nRegistration officially opens on Monday, November 20th, 10:00 am, for runners wanting to sign up for any or all Je Cours Qc events. Now\u2019s the time to take advantage of special pricing, with early-bird registration rates valid until January 7, 2018.<\/p>\n

New course for SSQ Quebec City Marathon to be unveiled in December<\/strong>
\nThose keen to find out more about the new course will have to wait a few more weeks until all the juicy details are revealed. Needless to say, though, the 21st year of this big event will mark the beginning of a new adventure for running enthusiasts and blaze new trails showcasing all the charm of beautiful Quebec City. Until the full course is revealed, here\u2019s a teaser. All three Sunday races will now start on Ren\u00e9-L\u00e9vesque Boulevard outside the Quebec City Conference Centre, and the Finish Area will be on Grande All\u00e9e, just a stone\u2019s throw from the Party Zone in front of the parliament buildings in Place de l\u2019Assembl\u00e9e-Nationale. Talk about a way to bring participants and spectators closer to the heart of the action! The marathon event will highlight the finest jewels in Quebec City\u2019s crown, taking runners through the charming Sillery, Limoilou, Sainte-Foy and Old Quebec districts. \u201cOne thing\u2019s for sure, we really are talking picture-postcard scenery for this event, no matter what distance runners choose to enter,\u201d said Genevi\u00e8ve Blouin, President of Quebec Running Events Corporation, and a runner herself. \u201cBecause everyone will get the chance to run past the Ch\u00e2teau-Frontenac and take in Parliament Hill and many more of the city\u2019s landmarks.\u201d<\/p>\n

2018 event calendar<\/strong>
\nMay 6, 2018 \u2013 Oasis L\u00e9vis Half-Marathon<\/strong>
\nThe ever-popular Oasis L\u00e9vis Half-Marathon kicks off the 2018 Je Cours Qc running season and is expected to attract more than 3,500 runners and walkers to the south shore of Quebec City. It\u2019s the 15th year of this event, and the same tried-and-true course is back\u2014a fast, mostly downhill route that\u2019s always a hit with runners.
\nMay 21, 2018 \u2013 Duchesnay Coureur des Bois Trail<\/strong>
\nFor the fifth year running, some 1,000 runners and walkers are expected to take to the trails on May 21 for a breath of fresh air at the Duchesnay Resort. Starting November 20, trail-running enthusiasts can sign up for the full 18K run, the Oasis 8K or the 1.5K Kids Trail.
\nJune 3, 2018 \u2013 Quebec City Descente Royale presented by Les Promenades Beauport<\/strong>
\nThe Quebec City Descente Royale presented by Les Promenades Beauport is back in 2018 for a 33rd year, challenging some 2,000 runners and walkers to give it their all down a legendary course that\u2019s more than 95% downhill. Participants in all distances\u2014Oasis 10K, 5K and Kids 2K\u2014get to run or walk through the streets of the city\u2019s Boischatel and Beauport districts on June 3.
\nJune 17, 2018 \u2013 Quebec City Staircase Challenge<\/strong>
\n2018 is the tenth anniversary year for the Quebec City Staircase Challenge, coming June 17 with some great changes in the works! In addition to the 19K and Oasis 13K races, the organizers are pleased to announce a new 8K distance and a 2K Kids Race\u2014making it easier for runners and walkers of all abilities to take to the stairs.
\nOctober 12\u201314 2018 \u2013 SSQ Quebec City Marathon<\/strong>
\n2018 will be the first year the SSQ Quebec City Marathon takes place entirely on the Quebec City side of the river, and the organizers are pulling out all the stops to make this a spectacular grand finale for the Je Cours Qc season next October. Runners who are in it for the fun can sign up for the SSQ Star Race, an after-dark fun run on the Friday evening. And that\u2019s not all: the family-friendly SSQ Health 5K and 2K Kids Race promise plenty of fun for all ages during the daytime too.
